Uttarakhand Soldier Killed

An Army jawan was killed and another injured after being hit by a boulder falling from a hill following a landslide near the India-China border in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi district, an official said on Wednesday.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday promised to pay Rs 1 crore to the next of kin of security personnel killed in the line of duty in Uttarakhand as "Samman Rashi" if the Aam Aadmi Party comes to power in the state.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who is scheduled to address a rally on March 16, will also visit the families of Major Chitresh Bisht and Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhoundiyal who were killed in Jammu and Kashmir days after the Pulwama terror attack.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman honoured a soldier killed in the line of duty by touching his mother's feet at an army event held in Dehradun today. Hema Kumari had come to the Uttarakhand capital to attend the function held to mark the contributions of her son - Ajit Pradhan - and other soldiers who had in encounters with terrorists.

The Congress today accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of shooting a documentary in the Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand on the day of the Pulwama terror attack in which 40 soldiers were killed by a suicide bomber in Kashmir, and continuing filming even after news of the deadly attack emerged.
