After a fresh weather alert, the state government has suspended the 'chaar dhaam yatra' till Saturday as all roads leading to the Himalayan shrines of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamnotri and Gangotri are blocked.

Almost two weeks after flash floods and landslides hit Uttarakhand, at least 4000 people, most of them pilgrims, are still waiting to be evacuated from the Himalayan state. Most of them are stranded in Badrinath. Nearly 1000 people are reported to have died in the devastation.
