Actor Varun Dhawan has been roped in for the lead role in the sequel of his filmmaker father David Dhawan's 1997 hit comedy Judwaa. The 28-year-old Badlapur star revealed the news on social media by sharing his look from the upcoming movie. The original Judwaa featured superstar Salman Khan in double roles

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani has scored eight nominations. Varun Dhawan's Badlapur follows with six nods. Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which has received several awards this year, scored three nominations. Shoojit Sircar's Piku and Rohit Shetty's Dilwale has received five nominations each

"The year has gone well. I hope Dilwale does better. I am hoping for a hattrick. I am very happy with the recognition for Badlapur as this film means a lot to me. Director Sriram Raghavan, who made this film, deserves the credit," said Varun Dhawan

"I think Hrithik is the best fit for the James Bond role. Apart from Hrithik, Akshay Kumar is absolutely suitable as Bond," said Varun. On being asked if he's willing to play a role similar to James Bond in his career, the Badlapur actor said: "Definitely. If I am given that chance, why would I refuse it?

"Nawaz bhai is a gifted actor. The things we do to each other (in the film), required us to hate each other. So, the chemistry had to be a little weird while we were shooting. However, we bonded really well while promoting the film. Nawaz bhai's character and performance is one of the key reasons why the film worked," said Varun

"I saw Varun's energy and passion on day one," said Nawazuddin Siddiqui

"It was a risk for Varun but not for me," said Sriram Raghavan

"I have seen so much of success till now but this success is at par and special for me," said David Dhawan

"The only reason I said yes was because of the team and how everybody believed in it," said Huma

Badlapur grossed Rs 6.23 in the international markets in the opening weekend

Badlapurs weekend collections are impressive, given the fact that its an adult rated movie and there was an India-South Africa World Cup cricket tie on Sunday.
