Dubbing passage of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Constitution Amendment Bill as "historic", Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday said manufacturing taxes and VAT will come down with the new national sales tax but the same for services tax will be decided by the Centre and states.

A BJP delegation today called on Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung to complain against the city government's introduction of the VAT Amendment Bill, increased expenditure on advertisements and publicity, and denial of information to RTI activists.

In tune with its efforts to ensure uniformity in Value Added Tax with neighbouring states, Delhi government tabled an amendment bill in the Assembly for bringing flexibility in fixing VAT on liquor, tobacco, aerated drinks and certain other items.
