Misuse of beacons on cars 'menace to society', says Supreme Court

Terming it as a 'menace to society', the Supreme Court today came down heavily on the misuse of beacon lights and multi-tone horns or sirens by vehicles on public roads.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday said it would decide whether a person other than high functionaries is entitled to use of beacons and sirens on their vehicles in view of their being misused and flaunted by people as status symbol.
