Videocon Telecommunications is planning to file a compensation claim of over Rs 10,000 crore against the government after the CBI court acquitted all accused in the 2G spectrum allocation case, news agency PTI reported today quoting an unnamed company source.

"Other than Airtel & Vodafone in 2G, all operators failed to meet the Call Drop Rate benchmark," the Trai said in a report released Monday.

"So, this way we and the partner operator will be able to offer both 4G and 2G services on each other's network."

Videocon Telecom plans to offer 4G data at 2G/3G rates to encourage early adoption, and will be offering bundled devices as well.

Videocon's 21 licences were among the 122 permits quashed in the 2G case by the Supreme Court on February 2, 2012. It had acquired permits to operate across all circles in 2008.

Videocon has followed the lead of other operators in slashing the 2G data tariff by 90 percent.

Videocon Mobiles has officially launched the VT 75C, a 7-inch tablet that also features a dedicated SIM-card slot for 2G voice calling.

Videocon aims to add about 6 million subscribers in 2013-14.

Videocon's 21 licences were among the 122 permits quashed by the Supreme Court order on February 2, 2012. It had acquired permits to operate across all circles in 2008.

The government is likely to charge Rs 2764 crore as charges for licence extension from telecom companies whose permits were cancelled by the Supreme Court, sources told NDTV Profit.

The companies whose petitions were rejected are Videocon Telecommunications Ltd, Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd (SSTL), Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL) and Idea Cellular Ltd.

The Telecom Ministry is looking at options to protect the interests of companies whose 2G licences will stand cancelled after January 18.

This was the first meeting of the ministerial panel after the auction of second-generation (2G) airwaves flopped last month.
