Vijaywada Illicit Liquor

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has directed officials of the Prohibition and Excise Department to step up vigil and check illicit liquor trade in the state. The Chief Minister's directive came after four people died after consuming illicit liquor in Vijayawada on Friday.

The death toll in Saturday night's liquor tragedy at Porata Nagar, a tribal hamlet near Kanimerla village in Krishna district here, on Sunday rose to 16.
