Academy Awards: Visaranai was one of 85 films submitted for Oscar consideration from around the world

"The Hindi remake rights for Visaranai have been bought by director Priyadarshan. As of now, that's the confirmed news. Akshay Kumar is not in the Hindi remake. That is not true. Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan have worked together earlier and are friends," said Vetrimaaran

"We grow up watching films by the greats. Like Kamal sir, Rajini sir, Mani sir. All these greats come together to support a film like ours. They have made it big. The film is a very small film but, their wishes and support have made this film into a very big film," said Vetrimaaran

"I have never seen a movie like 'Visaaranai' in Tamil. This will be one of the best movies in world cinema," Rajinikanth posted on Twitter. His colleague Kamal Haasan wrote, "I thank Balu Mahendra for inspiring Vetrimaaran towards good cinema. Watched Visaranai with awe"

Coimbatore based auto driver Chandrakumar is excited, as his first novel "Lock Up" which has been made into a Tamil film "Visaranai", will be premiered at the Venice International Film Festival later this month.
