The letter by Vishwa Bharati University Faculty Association (VBUFA) said "three students have been rusticated, and a large number of faculty members and employees suspended or issued show-cause notices" in matters which could have been solved through dialogue and discussions.

The Central Bureau of Investigation today filed charges of corruption and criminal conspiracy against four people, including the sacked vice chancellor of the central Viswa Bharati University founded by Nobel laureate Rabindra Nath Tagore at Shantiniketan in West Bengal.

In West Bengal, a Class 12 student of Patha Bhavan, which comes under Visva Bharati University, has alleged repeated rape and blackmail by a Bangladeshi research scholar.
