Vizag Steel Mishap

The death toll in Wednesday's explosion at a steel plant here rose to 15 today with three more employees succumbing to burn injuries.

With a senior officer succumbing to injuries, the death toll in Wednesday's explosion at the state-owned plant of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) in Vishakhapatnam rose to 12 today. K Srinivas, Senior Manager of the SMS Department, succumbed on Friday morning at the hospital, company sources said.

The Andhra Pradesh government on Thursday ordered an inquiry in the explosion at the state-owned steel plant here which claimed 11 lives and left eight others critically injured including General Manager V Kalsi.

At least six people have died and eight injured in a blast in a steel plant in Vizag in Andhra Pradesh. The Police Commissioner of Vizag confirmed the same adding that the blast happened at the Oxygen House in the plant.

Two contract workers were killed on Monday in a fire at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) official sources said.The mishap took place at the third blast furnace of the steel plant, a public sector unit, while inserting a steel rod to remove the slag through a hole, they said.
