Vodafone Germany aims to save around 400 million euros ($434.48 million) over the next two years as part of a restructuring that will hit some 2,000 jobs, the company said on Tuesday.

Vodafone said Thursday it planned to cut up to 1,200 jobs in Spain as it streamlines its organisation to cope with a drop in revenue and profits.

Vodafone Espana and Ono said they would launch a month of negotiations with labour unions in September.

Vodafone said the bosses of its four biggest European markets would report directly to chief Vittorio Colao to speed up decision making in fast-changing markets, after it decided to scrap its European regional management structure.

The government on Friday said direct tax collection has surpassed the budget estimate of Rs 3.70 lakh crore for the 2010 fiscal.
