Puducherry government has initiated steps to prepare a detailed letter to focus the "eligible parameters that Puducherry possess for being identified as smart city," Welfare and Tourism Minister P Rajavelu said on Thursday.

Puducherry Welfare Minister P Rajavelu today said the territorial administration had geared up implementation of housing subsidy scheme to provide Rs 4 lakh to each of the families of scheduled castes to convert their huts into concrete houses.

The Adi Dravidar Welfare Department has launched a revised Housing subsidy scheme to ensure that all 12,000 huts are replaced by concrete houses during the twelfth plan (2012-2017) in the Union Territory.
