West Bengal BJP President Dilip Ghosh said on Saturday that the party's failure to take forward its success in the Lok Sabha elections to the recent assembly bypolls in the state was due to the lack of experience.

Results for bypolls to three West Bengal Assembly constituencies -- Karimganj, Kharagpur Sadar and Kaliaganj -- will be announced on Thursday. Counting of votes began at 8 am. The results will be declared amid a strain between the supporters of the Trinamool Congress and BJP over an attack on a BJP candidate during voting on Monday.

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Thursday said the by-polls to three Assembly seats in the state on November 25 must be free from violence to erase memories of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in the state which had created a "different" kind of impression.

In a rehabilitation of Saradha scam accused Madan Mitra, a former West Bengal minister, Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee today named him as the party's candidate for the by-election to Bhatpara assembly seat.
