West Bengal Voting Start Time

Fresh polling is underway today at over 600 booths across 19 districts of West Bengal where voting for panchayat elections was declared void amid allegations of tampering with ballot boxes and the violence that left 15 people dead, officials said.

An estimated 36.09 per cent of the eligible voters in West Bengal have exercised their franchise till noon while 26.37% of the electorates have voted in Assam during the period, according to the Election Commission. Overall 1.54 eligible voters in these two states can exercise their franchise today.

Bengal reported 82 per cent voter turnout in the first phase of the 2021 Assembly election while Assam, which also began voting on Saturday, reported 76.9% per cent turnout.
