A pregnant woman has died of starvation in Pakistan's Sindh province amid the coronavirus lockdown imposed in the country, according to media reports.

The Kerala Women's Commission (KWC) on Tuesday sought a reply from the state police in connection with the death of a 27-year-old woman allegedly due to starvation at her husband's home.

On Tuesday morning, a woman in Delhi brought her three little daughters - eight, four and two - to a hospital, where doctors declared them dead. How did they die, the police asked the mother. "Give me food first...I will talk," she mumbled, nearly collapsing.

58-year-old woman Savitri Devi had nothing to eat for the last three days. She allegedly died of starvation on Sunday in Dumri area of Giridih in Jharkhand. "Due to negligence of authorities, her ration card could not be made, which is why she was unable to get rations," a district official Sheetal Prasad told news agencies

The Centre on Saturday said the woman who died recently in Bareilly district in Uttar Pradesh due to alleged starvation was an AAY cardholder and had received the PDS foodgrain till October on a regular basis.

The Yogi Adityanath government says its initial inquiries suggest Shakina died of an illness, not starvation. But the family says the ration shop owner insisted that Shakina come for her biometric identification using a fingerprint machine at the ration shop, says the family.
