It was a casual on-metro selfie that a US-based NRI woman had clicked which helped the Central Industrial Security Force or CISF recover her stolen gold jewellery worth Rs 22 lakh and bust a gang of women pickpockets from a Metro station in Delhi.

Moments after a train from Bengaluru to Chennai was today halted by pulling an emergency chain, thieves snatched away gold chains, weighing about 17.5 sovereigns, from four women passengers, police said.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) has unleashed a special squad of women officers to tackle the problem of thefts and robberies in ladies' bogies on the suburban local trains. The squad, disguised as regular commuters, follow on-record criminals to catch them in the act, and hand them over to the police.
