Senior IPS officer GL Singhal and three other policemen have been granted bail in the Ishrat Jehan fake encounter case by a CBI court. Encounter specialist Tarun Barot, JG Parmar and Bharat Patel are the three other senior policemen who have been granted bail.

Just days after he was appointed as head of Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) on Telecom, Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar has written to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh wanting to step down. The PM has accepted Mr Pawar's request to be recused of the additional charge.
