Yemen Army Commander Killed

Yemen's army has announced the death of its most senior commander to be killed this year in the country's ongoing civil war.

Two senior army commanders from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were killed along with two Saudi soldiers in Yemen as fighting with a Houthi militia flared before Tuesday's expected peace talks, state media reported today.

The Yemeni army killed more than 30 al Qaeda insurgents in heavy fighting on Wednesday, a senior military commander said, after the Islamists attacked military posts in a southern province where the government launched an offensive two weeks ago.
