Since elections began, there has been a lot of discussion about how states voted, and if the dip in polling is significant enough to impact the electoral results. Six phases of elections are over, and the last one will be held on June 1. The Lok Sabha elections so far have seen a 1.6%-point decrease in turnout compared to 2019. The six phases of polling have logged an overall turnout of 65.63% - down from 67.18% in the same seats in 2019. These are what Election Commission numbers say. What could be behind this reduced polling numbers? Are we reading too much into these numbers because polling continues to be higher than pre-2014 levels?
