When asked why the SpiceJet aircraft from Mumbai to Durgapur was cleared to fly to Hyderabad despite turbulence, air security expert Capt Amit Singh said, "As per DGC regulations, this is an accident. If people on board are seriously injured, it is termed an accident. After an accident, one cannot clear an aircraft until a detailed process, an enquiry is undertaken, where the aircraft is evidence."
