In the wake of a land-subsidence crisis in Joshimath, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday said that Rs 1.5 lakh compensation is being provided to the affected families. Two members from each family that has been relocated will be given jobs under MNREGA, the Uttarakhand government said. "169 families relocated to safer areas. Teams are on ground. The measures announced by the givernment will act as temporary relief," said Himanshu Khurana, District Magistrate, Chamoli.
