It happened in the summer of 1999 - a broadcast to your homes of a war taking place, far away in the mountains of Kashmir. A war which was now just a click of your TV remote away. It was a war that generated patriotism, pride in the nation, pride in the ability of 20 something soldiers, who didn't think twice about marching to their death. India had a new set of young heroes. Vikram Batra, Yogender Singh Yadav, Manoj Pandey, Sanjay Kumar. They were fighting in a place, in terrain, in climatic conditions as difficult as one can imagine. This was mountain warfare like never before. Along the way, the Indian Air Force got involved and launched the first laser guided bomb attacks in India's history. On this programme, as India approaches the 20th anniversary of the Kargil War this Friday, a truly incredible gathering of the relatives of some of our bravehearts, the Army and Air Force Chief at the time and observers.
