We speak to Professor Bhramar Mukherjee, Health Data Scientist, on NDTV's report on how 3.4 million cases have gone unreported according to an analysis of the testing data available and the over reliance on the rapid antigen testing. She says, "There's a high degree of underreporting in terms of positive cases as well as COVID-related deaths. But even among those being tested, there are false negatives". She also says that both rapid antigen tests and RT-PCR tests have their usefulness. Antigen tests being cheaper and faster can help identify the existence of Covid in certain areas, but should be conducted two to three times for better accuracy.
