At the swearing-in ceremony of the Jammu and Kashmir government, Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Nirmal Singh told NDTV that it is the “beauty of democracy” that the son of a former guard to Maharaja Hari Singh is now part of the state government. In an exclusive interview, Mr Singh said that for now, Article 370 is a closed issue as the mandate does not allow the party to pursue it. In future, he said, if the party gets a mandate, it will decide how to proceed further on the issue.
