The central drug regulator has released two lists: One containing the names of 53 drugs that failed the quality tests and the other of five drugs that were found to be spurious or adulterated in August 2024. Medicines - including common ones like paracetamol, which is used for fever, metformin, which is the first line of treatment for diabetes, and pantoprazole, which is used for acidity - were found to be spurious or not of standard quality. One of the major dangers of taking substandard medications is the risk of prolonged health issues. On Left Right and Centre we ask what should you do in such a situation.
