The Thai people are not only in Thailand but had decades back migrated across south east Asia. Tai ethnic group is dominant in Central and Southern Thailand, and are a part of the larger Tai ethno-linguistic group native to Southeast Asia as well as Southern China and Northeast India. Tais speak the Central Thai language, which is classified as part of the Kra-Dai family of languages. The majority of Tais are followers of Theravada Buddhism. In an interview to NDTV, former Deputy Prime Minister of Thiland, Korn Dabbaransi, explained the unique 'Thai' connection between India, Myanmar, China and Thailand.
