Encroachments, flouting of rules that help put up illegal structures and the general disregard for urban planning. A disregard that has led to problems ranging from traffic jams and flooding to gradual unemployment and income disparities. Given the scale of urbanisation, India seems to have a lower number of urban planners than are required. According to the urban development ministry there are just 5000 urban planners in the country.
