The Maharashtra government is in favour of the Maratha quota, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said today after an all-party meeting called by his government to discuss the fresh wave of statewide protests. Mr Shinde also said the meet decided that reservation should be given to the Maratha community without tampering with the existing quotas. The state has to maintain a tricky balance, so as to not lose out on key votebank of the OBC and Marathas in the run-up to 2024. NDTV explains the challenges before the government.
