Step into "A Treasury of Life" - the most expansive showcase of Company Paintings ever held in India. Curated by historian and art expert Dr. Giles Tillotson, this landmark exhibition at DAG, New Delhi, features over 200 intricate works from the late 18th and early 19th centuries - all drawn from DAG's own collection.
These paintings are more than colonial-era commissions - they are visual records of India's landscapes, people, flora, fauna, and everyday life, created by Indian artists like Sita Ram, Chuni Lal, and Sewak Ram.
NDTV's Shreya speaks to Dr. Tillotson on the politics of curation, the question of anonymity, and the effort to tell a more layered story - one that doesn't just reflect how the British saw India, but how Indian artists saw their own world.
"A Treasury of Life" is on view at DAG till July 5th.
