Abortion debate: Family keeps hope alive
In a judgement that could have far reaching implications for the abortion debate in India, the Bombay High Court, on Monday, had denied permission to a couple who wanted to abort their 25-week-old foetus. Indian laws only allow abortions upto the 20th week. The Mehtas, who were the applicants, had gone to court saying the abortion was necessary since the foetus has a serious heart problem.
