Accused awarded life term in Vinothini acid attack case

A court in Puducherry's Karaikal today awarded life sentence to the accused in the Vinothini acid attack case. The court also imposed a fine of Rs. one lakh, and ordered Rs. 50000 to be given to Vinothini's parents as compensation. In November 2012, 24 year-old Suresh, a building contractor, threw nitric acid on techie Vinothini, 21, after she turned down his proposal to marry her.
