Actor-Politician Vijay Attacks BJP Amid Row Over Periyar

Tamil actor-politician Vijay has come to the defence of social reformer Periyar, accusing the BJP of using the Dravidian leader to divert criticism against the Centre. He highlighted Periyar's contributions, stating, "We can go on and on about how he opposed child marriage, supported widow remarriage, and opposed caste atrocities."

He also emphasised Periyar's foresight in advocating for reservation, saying, "There is a reason people still praise him as he spoke about reservation for social justice which people speak about now, a hundred years ago."
