Kannada actress Khushbu Sundar, in a conversation with NDTV, described Puneeth Rajkumar, who died on Friday, as a "gem of a person" and a "wonderful soul." She said: "It is very difficult to accept the fact that Appu is not with us anymore. He was so young and he was a gem of a person. He was such a wonderful soul. You come in contact with Appu and everybody will have only one thing to say – what a gem of a person he is. It is so difficult, these moments, it has come as a rude shock, somebody who is so healthy, so conscious about, it's hard. I spoke to him on Saturday, I was in London, and I told him, 'Appu, I will come back to Chennai and I will call you.' I have known him for a very long time since I started my journey in Kannada industry in '87. Appu was very very young, I have seen him grow into this superstar, what he was. He used to call me Akka. It is very difficult to know that I won't be able to see Appu anymore, nobody is going to call me and say. 'Hi akka' anymore…extremely, extremely difficult."
