After Giving Birth, About 2 In 10 Women At Risk Of Depression In India

Worldwide, about 10 per cent of pregnant women and 13 per cent of women who have just given birth, experience a mental disorder, primarily depression. In developing countries this is even higher - nearly 16 per cent during pregnancy and nearly 20 per cent after child birth. The reality is, only few seek help as there is poor awareness of the signs of maternal depression. In this episode, we take a look at postpartum or perinatal depression which has negligible recognition in India.
