After missiles hit the Islamic University on Friday night, the Al Shefayee mosque, Gaza's largest, was reduced to a rubble when Israeli F-16s repeatedly bombarded the building. However, no casualty was reported as the mosque was unoccupied at that time. The attack came in the wake of Israeli military's allegations that Hamas was using the mosque to build tunnels and to store ammunitions - a charge denied by the angry Gazans. They claim the mosque had religious as well as educational significance and was attended by almost a thousand people everyday.
