Prime Minister Narendra Modi tore into the Congress in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha yesterday. He blamed the Congress on a range of issues from dynastic politics to partition of India, and from policy paralysis to bad loans and non-performing assets. The prime minister cited several examples when the Congress "disregarded and shunned democracy and democratic practices" and slammed them for the declaration of Emergency in the country. Congress chief Rahul Gandhi also compared the prime minister's speeches in parliament to that of an election rally. Here's what historians have to say about PM Modi's statements in Parliament.
