After a series of false starts, rival factions of Tamil Nadu's ruling AIADMK party once again faltered on the verge of announcing a merger that has been in the works for months. Party sources said "Amavasya" is an auspicious day for the long-stalled reunion of the party that split after the death of J Jayalalithaa, powerful leader who headed both the party and the government until her death in December. Hundreds of party workers are at the AIADMK headquarters but talks between Chief Minister E Palaniswami or EPS and his predecessor O Panneerselvam or OPS have apparently not gone as planned.
