With Haryana polls around the corner, the Congress has once again raised the issue of scrapping the Agnipath scheme. In August, the Nayab Singh Saini government announced 10 per cent reservation for Agniveers in constable and forest guard jobs. Despite facing opposition, the government is steadfast in its support of the two-year-old Agnipath recruitment scheme and maintains it has no plans to change it. The government says the scheme is integral to national security. The Congress, in turn, alleges it is a threat to national security.
