The Shiromani Akali Dal, a member of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance at the centre, will not contest Delhi Assembly polls the party confirmed today, after disagreements over seat-sharing and a refusal to reconsider its stand on the citizenship law and NRC. Addressing reporters at a press conference in the national capital this evening, Delhi Akali Dal leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that while his party "welcomed CAA, we never pitched for anyone to be excluded" and that "excluding someone on the basis of religion was wrong".
