Since the 2018 polls, BJP has emerged as a key factor in Nagaland. In the 2018 polls, BJP won 12 seats, whereas it won only one in the 2012 poll in the Christian majority state. In 2018, the BJP got a 15 per cent vote share and was part of the Neiphiu Rio government. The BJP has again formed an alliance with Mr Rio's party ahead of the polls. The NDPP will contest in 40 and BJP in the remaining 20 and the key man for BJP in Nagaland is its state president and cabinet minister Temjem Imna Along. He spoke about the BJP'S outreach in Nagaland ahead of the upcoming polls in an exclusive interview with NDTV's Ratnadip Choudhury.
