Amanat's statement: Sheila Dikshit demands probe into 'interference'

What the 23-year-old gang-rape survivor at Safdarjung hospital doesn't know is that a statement of hers to a Sub-Divisional Magistrate is at the centre of a massive controversy. A letter accessed by NDTV which was forwarded by the Chief Minister to the centre says SDM Usha Chaturvedi felt she was being coerced by the police to record the statement as per their convenience. The police say this is rubbish and now a judicial magistrate has recorded a fresh statement. The bottom line - there is nothing new in today's statement of the 23-year-old and therefore the case against the men who attacked her will not be affected - at all.
