This is the fifth straight day that over 3 lakh cases have been recorded by the country. With 3,52,991 fresh Covid cases and 2,812 deaths, India saw a new record high as the deadly second wave swept the country. Nearly 10 lakh cases have been reported in the last 72 hours. The centre has put out guidelines for states on enforcing lockdowns and containment zones to try and flatten the curve. The rules say restrictions should be imposed when the positivity rate is 10 per cent or more for a week and when more than 60 per cent hospital beds are occupied.
