Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is on a two day visit to the Northeast, will hold two public meetings in Assam, which is scheduled to go to polls later this year. In Assam's Kokrajhar, he will hold a meeting of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC). Later, he will address a public meeting organised by the BJP in Nalbari. This is Mr Shah's second visit to Assam this month. Yesterday Prime minister Narendra Modi visited the state and addressed a massive public rally where he distributed land certificates were distributed to over one lakh landless indigenous people. PM claimed this as an example on how the BJP is committed to protect the interest of the Bhumipurtas of Assam. He, however, avoided speaking on key issues like the CAA or the Assam NRC.
