The sedition debate is back and now it is playing out in Bengaluru where NGO Amnesty International India has been booked for sedition after azaadi or pro-freedom slogans were allegedly raised at an event they organised on Kashmir over the weekend. The complaint was filed by the ABVP, a student body linked to the BJP. The state ruled by the Congress went after the BJP on the misuse of the sedition law when JNU student leaders like Kanhaiya Kumar was also charged under the same act. So the Congress has to answer on its hypocrisy on the issue. The state BJP Chief BS Yeddyurappa has said patriotic people can't tolerate anti-national slogans while Amnesty says the filing of the sedition case shows a lack of belief in fundamental rights.
