Announcing a Rs 10 hike in diesel, kerosene prices politically unwise: Vinod Sharma

Diesel prices are likely to go up by Rs. 10 per litre over the next 10 months while kerosene prices may be hiked by Rs. 10 per litre over the next two years, according to the petroleum secretary. Vinod Sharma, editor of political news at Hindustan Times, says that while the announcements are good from an economy point of view, the upfront announcement might not go down well with opposition parties. He thinks it was wise to have increased prices gradually without making too much noise around it.
