There have been a series of high profile exits from the Congress party over the last few years. As disillusionment with the party leadership has deepened, and the Congress has shown few signs of doing any serious introspection. One of the party's most senior leaders, former union minister and Lok Sabha MP Manish Tewari also appears to be unsettled. On the Agnipath scheme for the armed forces, the Congress has publicly distanced itself at least twice from Mr Tewari's views- he supports the scheme which he says is a genuine reform for the armed forces. In fact, he was the only opposition MP in a parliamentary panel who did not sign a letter seeking the withdrawal of Agnipath just this week. Is this a sign of larger disaffection? Has the Congress really learnt any lessons and is committed to the changes it spoke of at the recent conclave in Udaipur.
