Are jail rules bent when granting parole to rich and famous?
Mehmooda Khanam, 72, is bedridden with a heart ailment coupled with asthma. Her last wish is to see her son Shaikh Azizuddin, who is lodged in Pune's Yerwada jail, married. However, unlike film actor Sanjay Dutt, who is also lodged in the same jail, it isn't easy for Azizuddin to secure leave. While Sanjay Dutt is serving his jail term, Azizuddin has completed his sentence of 14 years after being convicted of murder charges, his family claims. Sanjay Dutt is completing his remaining 42 months of his five year jail term after being convicted under the arms act in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case. He has so far been granted leave twice.
