Armed forces get 100 per cent pay hike
On the face of it, this seems to be the best turn in decades, a three times hike in basic salary plus an additional incentive of 6,000 rupees per month for officers up to the rank of a brigadier. A pay package that finally seems to recognise the unique qualities of a service life - a life of high risk, the lack of basic comforts that most of us take for granted and years that they have to spend away from families.
