Armed Forces Special Powers Act: Omar vs Defence Ministry
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is expected to discuss the efficacy of removing the Armed forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in some areas of the state, in high-level meetings with the Northern Army Commander and heads of other agencies. Security situation will also be reviewed in these meetings. Sources have told NDTV that despite the opposition, the Omar government will go ahead with reducing areas under AFSPA.
