Army chief age row: Rules are rules and cannot be bypassed, says Khurshid
As tension escalates between Army chief General VK Singh and the Ministry of Defence over the former’s age, Law Minister Salman Khurshid said that the controversy is an extremely sad one. Speaking to NDTV, Mr Khurshid said that the General is an outstanding officer but rules are rules and cannot be bypassed. When asked which rule the Army chief had sought to bypass, Mr. Khurshid said any inaccuracies on the records regarding his date of birth needed to have been corrected earlier.
